Our Story: Unveiling the
Trails, Embracing the Legacy

Welcome to the heart of mountain biking excitement in Merritt!

Our story is woven with the threads of passion, adventure, and a deep-rooted love for the trails that traverse this breathtaking landscape. As we journey through the pages of our history, two flagship events stand tall – the Merritt Crown Race and the Coldwater Classic.

The Merritt Crown Race:
Conquering Trails,
Building Legends

In 2017, the inaugural Merritt Crown Race made its mark on the mountain biking scene, quickly becoming a crown jewel in our community.

Covering a challenging 120 kilometers, riders embarked on a thrilling journey through the best trails Merritt has to offer. With a formidable 3000 meters of elevation gain and a 12-hour time limit, this race is not for the faint of heart. What started as a local event has now evolved into a nationally recognized race, drawing participants from across Canada to test their mettle against Merritt's majestic trails.

Over the years, the Merritt Crown Race has grown steadily, and we are proud to say that, in its seventh year, the event now boasts over 120 riders. This incredible turnout is a testament to the enduring appeal of the race and the strong sense of community that surrounds it. The Merritt Crown Race is not just a race; it's a celebration of the spirit of mountain biking. It embodies the camaraderie of riders, the perseverance of pushing one's limits, and the sheer joy of conquering nature's challenges. As the years roll on, the Merritt Crown Race continues to be a symbol of our commitment to excellence in mountain biking and a testament to the beauty of our trail network.

The Coldwater Classic:
A Legacy Rekindled

Nestled in the rich tapestry of our mountain
biking history is the Coldwater Classic,
formerly known as the Cow Trail Classic.

From 2003 to 2010, this event captured the hearts of riders across the province, bringing together hundreds of competitors of all ages and abilities. The Coldwater Classic is not just a race; it's a tradition that speaks to the soul of Merritt's mountain biking community.

The journey of the Coldwater Classic traces its roots back to the Kane Valley Classic, held from 1997 to 2002 on the cross-country ski trails meandering through the Kane Valley. After a brief hiatus, the Cow Trail Classic resurfaced in 2016 and 2017, rekindling the flame of excitement. In 2023, it was reborn as the Coldwater Classic, a testament to the enduring legacy of this iconic race.

As we continue to pedal forward, our story unfolds with each tire track left on the trails. The Merritt Crown Race and the Coldwater Classic are not just events; they are chapters in the ever-evolving narrative of Merritt's mountain biking culture. Join us as we carve new trails, embrace the challenges, and celebrate the shared passion that unites us all in the love of the ride.
